RecipoHub (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates this website and is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do with it. If anything here is unclear, email us at contact@recipohub.com and we will explain it.
Information you give us
- Comments. When you leave a comment we store the name, email address and optional website you provide, along with your IP address and browser user agent so we can filter spam. Your name and comment are visible to other readers; your email address is not published.
- Contact form. When you use the contact form we store your name, email address, the subject and your message so we can reply to you.
- Newsletter. If you sign up for the newsletter we store the email address you enter, so we can send you the updates you asked for.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our server keeps standard access logs — the pages requested, the date and time, your IP address, and your browser type. We use these logs to keep the site secure, diagnose errors and understand which pages are being read. We do not combine them with any other information to identify you.
Analytics
We do not currently run a third-party analytics platform such as Google Analytics on this website, and we do not build profiles of individual readers. If we add an analytics tool in the future, we will update this policy and describe exactly what it measures before it goes live.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. We use them in two ways:
- Functional cookies make the site work — for example remembering that you are signed in, remembering a name you entered in a comment form, and storing your preferences. These are set by WordPress and by this website.
- Advertising cookies are set by our advertising partners, as described below, so they can show relevant ads and measure how they perform.
You can refuse or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings. Blocking cookies does not stop you reading the site — some conveniences, such as staying signed in, may stop working. We do not use cookies to collect sensitive personal data.
Advertising: Google AdSense
This website uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google and its partners use cookies — including the DoubleClick cookie — to serve ads to you based on your prior visits to this website and to other websites. This means the ads you see here may relate to sites you visited elsewhere.
You can control this:
- Opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings: https://adssettings.google.com.
- Opt out of personalised advertising from many third-party vendors at https://www.aboutads.info/choices/ (or, in the EU, https://www.youronlinechoices.eu).
- Read how Google uses data from partner sites at https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before advertising cookies are set, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time. Third-party vendors, including Google, may also use non-personalised advertising, which does not rely on prior browsing history.
How we use your information
We use personal data to publish and respond to your comments, to answer messages sent through the contact form, to send the newsletter you subscribed to, to protect the site against spam and abuse, and to understand which content is worth writing next. We rely on your consent (for the newsletter and, where required, for advertising cookies), on your request when you contact us, and on our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that make the site work: our hosting provider (which stores the site and its database), Google AdSense (which serves the advertising described above), and email delivery providers used to send and receive messages. These providers process data only for those purposes. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our readers and ourselves.
How long we keep it
Comments and their metadata are kept for as long as the comment remains on the site, or until you ask us to delete them. Contact form messages are deleted once your enquiry has been answered and there is no ongoing reason to keep them. Newsletter email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, which you can do from any email we send. Server logs are rotated regularly and are not kept indefinitely.
Children’s privacy
RecipoHub is a general-audience cooking website and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email contact@recipohub.com and we will delete it.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy of it;
- correct anything inaccurate;
- delete your data, including your comments and your newsletter subscription;
- restrict or object to how we use your data, and withdraw consent you have given.
To make any of those requests, email contact@recipohub.com from the address you used, or tell us enough for us to find your records. We respond within 30 days. If you are in the EU or the UK you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority; in Morocco, complaints can be addressed to the CNDP.
Security
We keep the site and its software up to date, limit who can access the data, and use secure connections (HTTPS). No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security — but if a breach ever affects your data, we will tell you what happened and what to do.
Links to other websites
Our recipes and guides sometimes link to other sites. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and this one does not apply to them. We recommend reading the privacy policy of any site you visit.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page and change the “last updated” date at the top. Significant changes will be announced on the site as well. Continuing to use RecipoHub after an update means you accept the policy as it stands.
